Gardenia is a must-have for anyone that loves the sight of lovely, heavily fragrant flowers in their yard. Gardenia jasminoides (botanical name) originated in Asia and has been in cultivation in China for more than a thousand years. They were introduced to English gardens in the 18th century and have been a favorite here in our area ever since! These bushy, medium-sized evergreen shrubs feature attractive glossy, bright green leaves and large, very fragrant white flowers that bloom periodically throughout the year. We love to plant them as one of the most beautiful hedges you can find!

Gardenias are heat-loving plants and prefer to grow in a spot with full sun exposure, though they can grow in partial shade too. Once established, they will have low to moderate watering needs, and they thrive in high humidity, so they love to grow in Houston! With the proper care, Gardenia jasminoides will reward you with the exquisite, creamy-white fragrant flowers that please the senses.

We recommend fertilizing them during their growing season from spring to fall. We've teamed up with the top fertilizer-producing nursery to design ideal fertilizers, supplements, liquids, and pellets ideal for treating Houston's dense soil with the nutrients and vitamins essential for growing a beautiful landscape!

Gardenia’s look good anywhere, whether you plant them in a city garden or a courtyard. We are the growers so we can assure their quality is the best you’ll find anywhere.
