Trailing Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostratus')

Trailing Rosemary

Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostratus'

  • Spreading Variety
  • Extremely Durable
  • Works well in most landscapes
  • Periodic blooms Spring thru Fall

Trailing Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub and one of the key ingredients in a Mediterranean-style garden as well as in culinary recipes! Rosmarinus officinalis is a must-have in any would-be chef’s herb garden, but that’s not all, these extremely durable plants are versatile and work well in any landscape. We like to plant them along paths and walkways, where passersby can catch a whiff of the green, very fragrant leaves. As a bonus, they offer periodic blooms from spring through fall with flowers that contrast beautifully with the foliage. These evergreen shrubs are also ideal for beds and borders, in rock gardens and as an informal, low hedge. These are very hardy plants, and they grow well in a nice pot too, so we also like to place them on a sunny balcony or deck!

There is a broad range of Rosmarinus officinalis cultivars available, and this is the 'Prostratus,' which can create a green curtain if left to trail down over a wall or edge! Both homeowners and landscapers rave about how easy they are to grow, in fact, they are virtually disease and pest free! Rosemary tolerates light shade but do best and thrive with full sun exposure. They are drought tolerant once established and will also require little to moderate watering.

Trailing Rosemary is the perfect addition to any landscape, whether you live in the city or out in the country. They blend well with a broad range of landscape designs, so visit any of nurseries, and any of our nursery pros will be glad to assist you. We offer free home and business landscape design consultations at our nursery, which is the best way to revamp any landscape.
