The only thing that we've seen grown faster then a Tipu has been it's popularity in Houston. Prized for an absurdly fast growth rate, Tipus are a strong, quickly growing desert tree with vibrant yellow blooms and a wide green canopy. If you're looking to establish landscape shade...and fast...look no further!
The Acacia salinga, or blue leaf wattle, is an evergreen tree that has unique blue-tinted leaves and produces yellow blooms during the spring. This tree can tolerate high heat and full sun, making it ideal for desert landscaping. These Acacias grow a very wide umbrella-shaped canopy that provides filtered shade year round. They are a very fast growing tree with great durability to heat and cold.
Museum Palo Verde
The Desert Museum palo verde is a hybridized plant that was first identified at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in southern Arizona. This semi-deciduous tree produces yellow blooms that remain on the tree throughout the entire summer. Desert Museum palo verde trees can reach their mature height of 20 to 30 feet within three to five years of being planted.
For a tree that puts on a truly spectacular floral show, consider a jacaranda. These trees often grow with multiple trunks, making them an interesting addition to your landscape. In the spring and summer, the jacaranda tree produces purple trumpet-like flowers. This tree grows very fast and provides a soft, filtered shade with incredible blooms.
